From Policy to Practice- Evaluating KPMGS Strategies on the Impact Plan"(Our Impact Plan -OIP)

Abstract

This study evaluated KPMG Ghana’s “Our Impact Plan” (OIP) to determine how effectively its evaluation processes translate global sustainability commitments into measurable outcomes within the Ghanaian context. It aimed to analyze stakeholder perceptions of evaluation practices, assess the integration of community feedback and sustainability considerations, and examine the alignment between OIP objectives and on-the-ground results. The study adopted a qualitative research design underpinned by an interpretivist philosophy. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 20 purposively selected participants drawn from KPMG staff, external partners, community representatives, and regulators. Document analysis supplemented the interviews, and data were thematically analyzed using NVivo software to identify recurring patterns and meanings. The study revealed that while OIP evaluation processes demonstrate structured data collection and assurance mechanisms, gaps persist in feedback integration, metric standardization, and long-term sustainability tracking. Stakeholders perceived uneven awareness levels, irregular communication, and partial inclusion of community voices. The study recommended that KPMG streamline evaluation metrics, enhance real-time feedback loops, and institutionalize context-specific sustainability indicators to strengthen impact credibility and stakeholder trust.
